What is the difference between PollCat™ Surveys Lite and PollCat™ Surveys Pro?
|
Lite provides an easy-to-learn interface to allow you to quickly get your survey on the web. Pro provides
a more sophisticated interface to allow you to perform more advanced functions. For example, with Pro, you can
produce multi-page surveys with conditional skip logic and manage your surveys in a folder-based
tree system.

PollCat Surveys Lite and Pro are available free of charge! Author surveys, publish surveys,
review survey responses and reports, without hosting costs. We also offer
premium services for a nominal charge.

How can I get my data?
|
Your data is available for download from the Published Surveys, Enhancements Link in PollCat Lite.
After purchasing data, an email will notify you that a zip file is ready containing MS Access 97, HTML and XML renditions of your data.
The price varies per use, no matter how much data you are downloading.
We recommend you download your data after you complete your response collection activities.
You can also browse individual survey responses by clicking on the hyperlinked count
under the Completed heading on the Published Surveys page.

How do I delete a survey?
|
|
On the Published Surveys page, click Delete. Make sure you purchase data
before you delete - your data will not be recoverable.
|

I only want 100 responses. How do I prevent more than that?
|
On the Published Surveys page, enter how many responses you want under the Max Responses field.
There are limits to the number of responses collected. See
pricing for more information.

I only want my survey active until Friday. How do I make it expire?
|
|
On the Published Surveys page, enter the last date that you want your survey active in the Expiration Date field.

How can I make my survey better looking?
|
|
Use HTML tags. Most PollCat™ Surveys fields support standard HTML tags. Use them in your questions, answers, headers, footers, and so forth.
Here are four basic tags:

How can I get people to take my survey?
|
Here are a few ways:
- Embed the URL link to the survey on your home page or another web page
- Email the URL link to the people you want to take the survey. Most modern mail packages support launching a link from
within a message
- Embed the URL on your home page with the MSIE IFRAME tag. This will show the survey within a frame right on your home
page.
- Embed your home page's HTML in the survey's header and footer fields, and set the survey's refer-to page to a copy
of your home page. This will make the survey look just like your home page.
- Post the URL link to the survey in a newsgroup

I published a survey. How do I keep tabs on my survey responses?
|
To access survey results, follow the "My Published Surveys" link from the
PollCat™ Lite Summary page, then follow either the
'Completed' link for actual responses or the 'Report' link for a tally report.
If you are using Pro mode, expand the
"Questionnaire Reports" node on the top level of the tree.
Also note that on the published surveys page you can ask for periodic email notifications
when people complete your survey.

I've published my survey. How do I change it?
|
PollCat™ Surveys Lite mode permits limited modifications to published surveys.
If you click on the 'Edit' link from the Published Surveys page, you can change header, footer and
color information. If you need to make more extensive changes, from the Published Surveys page in
Lite mode click the Copy link to copy your
published surveys back into the Work In Progress page, where it can be edited (and re-published).
If you have Internet Explorer 4, 5 or 6, you can edit the text of published
surveys by logging into PollCat™ Surveys Pro - click the login link
from our home page, then follow the link to Pro mode.
The structure of published surveys can not be changed, only the text elements.
If you wish to change the structure of a survey, log into Pro mode, then drag
the survey (which makes a copy) from the published folder to the work in progress folder, make your changes and republish the survey.

I published my survey and I am looking at the responses. Why are there blank responses?
|
|
If you did not make any responses to any questions mandatory, a respondent can submit a blank survey
as a complete reponse.
|

How do I find out who completed my survey?
|
|
By default, PollCat™ Surveys are anonymous. The only easiest way to find out who completed your survey is to
ask them within the survey. Please stay tuned for new enhancements to collect user information.
